Bvlgari is a relative newcomer in the world of watches, but it has been cautiously and carefully building its reputation. Sotirio Bvlgari opened his first jeweler's shop in 1884, in Rome, and the family's specialization is actually gems and precious silver.
Bvlgari started producing watches in the 1940's and in the 1970's the company debuted its fine watches. In 2000, Bvlgari took over Gerald Genta and Daniel Roth, giving rise to a new company named Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta Haute Horlogerie S.A.
