Breitling Watches
Breitling is a family-owned watch company that got its start in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland. In 1884, Léon Breitling opened a shop specializing in precision timepieces for scientific and industrial purposes. The company has a long relationship with aviation.
Some recent highlights of Breitling's watch history include the invention of the self-winding chronograph movement in cooperation with Büren and Heuer-Leonidas. In 1969, Scott Carpenter wore a Breitling Cosmonaute during his orbit around the Earth in the Aurora 7.
Warranty
Internet companies offer their own watch warranties. However, Breitling does not honor its warranty for any product purchased on the internet. From its website: "The Breitling warranty is available only to consumers in possession of a watch purchased from an authorized Breitling dealer."
Breitling Product Line
Breitling Chronomat Men's Chronograph watch (model 653/BK/PILOT) is premium grade steel and 18k yellow gold with a glare-proof sapphire crystal. A COSC® approved precision chronometer movement comes with all Breitling models. The list price is $4,225.
The Breitling Aerospace watch features a two-tone titanium 40mm case and bracelet, analog/digital display and a 1/100 second chronograph. The list price is $2300.
The Breitling Callistino for Ladies watch comes with a glare-proof cambered sapphire crystal. The band is calf leather. The list price is $3000.
The Breitling Chronomat Blackbird watch features chronograph functions, a stainless steel case, and a black diver strap with tang-type buckle. With a glare-proof sapphire crystal this watch is water resistant to 100 meters. The suggested list price is $2975.
Other Breitling Product Series
Breitling produces a number of crossover watch series including the Cosmonaute, the Headwind, the Shadow, the Crosswind, the B series and the Premier. Breitling's chronographs are its defining watch, since the company has always been at the forefront of this technology.
