Diamonds have been a part of AP’s regular production lineup since at least 1917, when they released an octagonal watch with a diamond-set bracelet.
The first Royal Oak with a diamond-set bezel (ref. 8756) came in 1978. It featured a thin rim of diamonds around the edge of its bezel, whereas more modern Royal Oak diamond bezels are almost fully covered by larger rows of diamonds.
Note that almost all Audemars Piguet watches with diamond-set bezels have a “ZZ” in their model number after the first period.
Since the 1980’s, AP has been adding more and more diamond-set options to their catalog, using both round and baguette diamonds on bezels, dials, cases and bracelets.
